Consistent socio-economic policies oriented towards the young and the vulnerable are a necessity to handle the demographic shifts in Bulgaria. We need to create an enabling environment that offers development prospects for young people and all vulnerable social groups in order to achieve demographic resilience. This is what Head of State Rumen Radev said at his Tuesday meeting at 2 Dondukov Blvd with Dr. Natalia Kanem, UN Under-Secretary-General and Executive Director of the UN Population Fund. President Radev met with representatives of organisations of the Macedonian Bulgarians, among which the Civic Democratic Union (CDU) political party, the associations Ivan Mihailov Cultural Centre - Bitola, Tribuna - Prilep, Macedonian-Bulgarian Friendship - Skopje, Corridor 8 - Skopje, Interaction - Ohrid, and Unity - Kocani, during their first ever visit to Sofia. The main topic of today's European Council is the energy crisis in Europe and soaring electricity and natural gas prices. This is a European problem and we must seek a concerted action at a European Union level to protect individuals and businesses. This is what Head of State Rumen Radev told reporters in Brussels ahead of the European Council meeting where he is representing Bulgaria.
