President Discusses Bilateral Cooperation with European HoSG

In Blenheim Palace Oxfordshire, President Rumen Radev discussed issues of bilateral cooperation with heads of state and government of a number of European countries. The Bulgarian head of state is visiting the UK to participate in the meeting of the European political community.

Deepening Bulgaria's partnership with the Netherlands and Denmark in the field of investment and education was the focus of President Radev's session with the Prime Ministers, Dick Schoff and Mette Frederiksen, respectively. Bilateral security cooperation and the fight against illegal migration were also among the topics of discussion.

The Bulgarian president expressed this country's gratitude for the timely reaction of the Czech Republic and the support provided to Bulgaria through the helicopters sent to assist the efforts to extinguish the raging fires before Prime Minister Petr Fiala.

Radev confirmed Bulgaria's support for guaranteeing the security of the Republic of Moldova and for its European integration in a talk with the country's president, Maia Sandu. Rumen Radev also expressed Bulgaria's position on preserving the territorial integrity of the Tarakli region in Moldova, where a large part of the historical Bulgarian community lives in the country.

Subsequent expansion of economic and investment cooperation between Bulgaria and the Federal Republic of Germany was the focus of President Radev's conversation with Federal Chancellor Olaf Scholz.

Rumen Radev discussed the prospects for ending Russia's war against Ukraine and ensuring peace in Europe with Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán. The general position was that this war represents a huge threat to peace and stability in Europe and has serious consequences not only for the two warring countries, but also for the entire region.

The Bulgarian head of state spoke with his Azerbaijani Ilham Aliyev about the possibilities for upgrading bilateral cooperation in energy, energy diversification and increasing the security of energy supplies from Azerbaijan to our region.

Prospects for deepening global cooperation to achieve global security in the light of the upcoming Summer Olympic Games, which France will host, was the topic of the conversation between President Rumen Radev and President of the French Republic Emmanuel Macron.

The Bulgarian head of state congratulated the prime minister of Albania, Edi Rama, for the transparent process of the country's population census conducted in accordance with democratic standards, during which our compatriots were given the opportunity to freely express their right to self-determination.

Rumen Radev expressed hope in a conversation with Prime Minister Hristijan Mickoski that the Republic of North Macedonia will speed up the implementation of the bilateral Treaty of Friendship, Good Neighbourliness and Cooperation with Bulgaria and the country's agreements with the European Union, which will open the prospect of starting negotiations for full membership with the EU.

The head of state highlighted NATO's role in ensuring the security of its member countries in the worsening international security environment, as a result of the Russian Federation's war against Ukraine, in a conversation with the Alliance's Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg.

The partnership between Bulgaria and the Swiss Confederation in the field of security was the focus of the conversation between Presidents Rumen Radev and Viola Amherd.
