Bulgarian and Greek joint infrastructure projects are in the spirit of the Three Seas Initiative goals, stated President Rumen Radev at a meeting with his Greek counterpart Ms. Katerina Sakellaropoulou held today at the Presidency. The President of the Hellenic Republic is visiting Bulgaria on the occasion of the Sixth Three Seas Initiative and Business Forum.
This year, the Hellenic Republic is invited as a guest of the Initiative that unites twelve countries in the region of Central and Eastern Europe. The country’s participation in this year’s Summit contributes to the shared vision of greater connectivity in the region, emphasised Mr. Rumen Radev. “The participation of Greece in the Sofia Summit is very important to Bulgaria, both due to our strategic partnership and to the significant potential of our joint infrastructure projects,” the Bulgarian Head of State added.
Developing transport infrastructure, improving energy connectivity, and opening new border checkpoints promoting connections between businesses and tourism were all outlined as priorities for Bulgaria and Greece alike.
The Head of State, Mr. Rumen Radev, declared that the Hellenic Republic is an important partner for realising the full potential of transport corridors along the North-South axis.
During the meeting, President Radev pointed out that Bulgaria has the greatest interest in achieving advancements in the European integration of the Western Balkan states. Our country expects a constructive and open dialogue in its communication with the Republic of North Macedonia in order to achieve sustainable and irreversible results, accelerating the process of European integration of our south-western neighbour.
