President Rosen Plevneliev Held a Working Meeting with the Ambassadors from the EU Member States

President Rosen Plevneliev held a working meeting with the ambassadors from the EU Member States and the European Economic Space within the framework of Latvia’s EU presidency.

Topical issues on the country’s political agenda were discussed at the meeting. The process of conducting reforms in the Energy, Justice, Pension System, Healthcare, Education and Water sectors were discussed.  The significance of 2015 was highlighted as a year of key importance for EU funds absorption and the successful launch of projects from the new financial framework in the 2014-2020 period.

The European ambassadors were briefed on the Head of State’s initiative for conducting a referendum on issues related to the electoral system.

The Head of State also highlighted before the diplomats Bulgaria’s ambition to join the Single Banking Supervisory Mechanism, the Exchange Rate Mechanism (ERM II) and the Schengen Zone before Bulgaria takes over the EU presidency in 2018.
