Presidents Plevneliev and Vujanovic requested a common tourist product “Bulgaria-Montenegro”

Presidents Rosen Plevneliev and Filip Vujanovic voiced their support for pooling efforts to popularize the cultural and historical heritage of Bulgaria and Montenegro, as well as that of the whole region of the Balkans. Today the two statesmen visited the historical town of Kotor in Montenegro. The cultural and historical heritage of twin cities under the aegis of UNESCO, as Kotor and Nesebar are, may be emblematic of the historical richness of Bulgaria and Montenegro and it should be displayed. “We have an enormous potential, we should only unlock it,” President Rosen Plevneliev commented.

“We will do our best to connect our two peoples, our cultures, our tourist attractions, our museums, as well as encourage the contacts between the mayors and work for creating a common regional product,” the Bulgarian Head of State said. According to the President, the mechanisms for European solidarity also provide a lot of opportunities in this respect.

The two Heads of State also commemorated the tenth anniversary of the tragic incident at the Lim river when ten Bulgarian children died. “We should never forget the attitude displayed here, in Montenegro, the helping hand that was lent, and the friendly attitude we observed at the most difficult moments. This is what makes me an optimist about our region. I would like to put an end to the history of the Balkans in which everyone is against everyone. We should not forget the tragedy and tell the story of the survivors and the rescuers,” President Rosen Plevneliev told Bulgarian and Montenegrin journalists in Kotor.

Later representatives of the business circles in Montenegro told Presidents Rosen Plevneliev and Filip Vujanovic that the Balkan region is a unified market and it should be presented as such to the potential investors. Representatives of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Montenegro took part in the meeting, which 18 thousand companies are members of, mainly in the services sectors, the Union of Tourist Organizations in the country and others.  The Montenegrin entrepreneurs highlighted the food production sector as having a high potential for attracting Bulgarian investors. The good cooperation of the Montenegrin professional organizations of the business with the trade chambers from the other countries in the region was also emphasized. It provides additional opportunities for taking joint actions to encourage not only the foreign, but also the mutual investment activity of the partners from the Balkan countries.
