The President: We are working to ensure that the growth of the trade with Vietnam reaches 500 million US dollars in the next years

2013-10-31 09:19:00

The Bulgarian and the Vietnamese sides will work to ensure that the bi-lateral trade grows from the current 60 million US dollars to 500 million in the next couple of years, President Rosen Plevneliev said in Ho Chi Minh, where he opened a second office of the service on trade and economic issues at the Bulgarian Embassy in Vietnam. The Office will assist the Bulgarian business in establishing contacts and grasping the opportunities that the Asian country provides the Bulgarian companies with.

“The opening of a service on trade and economic issues in Ho Chi Minh is a correct and visionary decision made by the Bulgarian state,” the President said and added that opening a trade office in Vietnam’s economic capital is an expression of a new relation between the two countries in the sphere of trade and investments in the context of the newly-announced New Model for Economic Cooperation between Bulgaria and Vietnam.

“Vietnam is the strategic base for the Bulgarian goods on the Asian markets and the Bulgarian side will support every good idea that will bring the two countries closer on all levels. To us, Vietnam is a real and very special friend,” President Plevneliev said.

The representatives of the business environment will find answers to all their questions in the new Bulgarian trade office, Oleg Marinov, chief of the trade office said and called on the business representatives to take advantage of the opportunities offered.

Ho Chi Minh, Vietnam’s economic center, produces 28 percent of the country’s GDP and contributes to ensuring 30 percent of the revenues in Vietnam’s state budget. It also comprises 28 percent of the export and 30 percent of the Asian country’s industry is concentrated there.

The ceremony in Ho Chi Minh was attended by the deputy-chief of the People’s Committee and the ambassadors of the two countries in Sofia and Hanoi.

Before the end of his state visit to the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, the Head of State visited the historical site Cu-Chi. The 120 km-long tunnel system was built at the time of Vietnam’s fight for independence and has been preserved until the present day.
