The President in Hanoi: the special relations between Bulgaria and Vietnam should be preserved

2013-10-29 17:36:00

President Rosen Plevneliev and Nguyen Thi Doan, Vice President of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam held a meeting with more than 100 Vietnamese citizens who have studied and worked in Bulgaria and with Bulgarians living in Vietnam. The two attended a concert of the “Mystery of the Bulgarian Voices” ensemble performed before a Vietnamese audience within President Plevneliev’s state visit to the Asian country.

“We highly appreciate your achievements and your love for Bulgaria, you are a natural bridge between the two countries and two peoples and are the basis on which we have to raise our relations to a new, strategic level,” the Head of State addressed the guests of the meeting, organized by the Vietnam-Bulgaria Friendship Association in Hanoi. The president recalled that Bulgaria has always supported Vietnam not only in its fight for independence, but also today – in the period of the country’s modernization. Bulgaria is among the first countries that established diplomatic relations with Vietnam 63 years ago.

Rosen Plevneliev assured our compatriots in Hanoi and the Vietnamese who studied and worked in Bulgaria in the recent past that each of their projects will be supported by the presidential institution and the Bulgarian state.

The President further added that the mutual trust lies at the heart of success and of every development, and the special relations between Bulgaria and Vietnam should be preserved.

Vice President Nguyen Thi Doan, who is an alumnus of the Bulgarian University for National and World Economy, expressed his gratitude to Bulgaria and the Bulgarian people for the support expressed in the years of the Vietnamese fight for independence, which involved the training of valuable staff as well. “We are speaking of tens of thousands of highly qualified specialists, some of which were appointed at key positions in Vietnam,” the Vice President said.

Earlier President Rosen Plevneliev and Vice President Nguyen Thi Doan discussed the opportunities for accelerating the cooperation between the two countries in the education sector. The two shared the opinion that the students’ exchange must be boosted, particularly in the sphere of engineer studies.

On 30 October President Rosen Plevneliev will visit Ho Chi Minh, where a Vietnamese-Bulgarian business forum will be held. More than 30 representatives of the Bulgarian business are expected to attend the forum.
