President Rosen Plevneliev met representatives of the most influential Jewish organizations in the US in New York
2013-09-24 11:35:00President Rosen Plevneliev awarded the five most influential Jewish organizations in the US with memorial signs commemorating the 70th anniversary of the rescue of Bulgarian Jews.
In 2013 Bulgaria with the assistance of the Jewish organizations and communities, organized a lot of events in different states so as to tell the world about this action of the Bulgarian civil society 70 years ago. The anniversary was marked in Paris, Budapest, Washington, Brussels, the President said during the meeting held with representatives of the Jewish organizations, in which Foreign Minister Christian Vigenin also took part.
The Head of State emphasized the strategic partnership between Bulgaria and the State of Israel. Our country is seeking to ensure more investments from Israel in high-tech centers, the President pointed out and added that in this respect more efforts are put into ensuring a closer connection between the Israeli and Bulgarian companies in the high-tech sector, information and communication technologies, industries, related to human health and the production of food.
Only if we are together we can effectively react against the threat posed by international terrorism, was the opinion voiced during the meeting, at which the good cooperation between the partner services on uncovering the perpetrators of the terror act at the Sarafovo airport in July 2012 was pointed out.
President Rosen Plevneliev held talks with the John Ashe, chair of the 68th session of the UN General Assembly.
Today the Bulgarian Head of State will take part in the 68th session of the UN National Assembly, the basic topic of which is “Program for post-2015 sustainable development: let us mark the beginning.” The Bulgarian President will be the sixth leader to make a statement from the world rostrum.
