MIRCHO IVANOV
Mircho Ivanov was born on 3 October 1976 in Blagoevgrad. He graduated from Ludmil Stoyanov Language School in Blagoevgrad.
He holds a Master's degree in International Relations - EU Law from Sofia University "St Kliment Ohridski". In 2008, the Higher Attestation Commission awarded him the degree of Doctor of Education and Science after successfully defending his PhD in International Law and International Relations.
From November 2000 to 1 August 2024, he worked at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Bulgaria. He held a number of positions in directorates dealing with bilateral relations with European countries and coordination on issues related to our relations with the EU. He worked at the Embassy of the Republic of Bulgaria in the Republic of Austria and the Embassy of the Republic of Bulgaria in the Swiss Confederation.
From 2014 to 2018, he was Head of Consular Service at the Embassy of the Republic of Bulgaria in Bucharest, Romania.
In 2018, he joined the Directorate of State Protocol, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and from 2019 to 2020, he was Head of the State Ceremonial Department at the Directorate.
From August 2020 to July 2024, he was Counsellor, Deputy Head of the Embassy of the Republic of Bulgaria in the Swiss Confederation.
Appointed Foreign Policy Adviser to the President of the Republic of Bulgaria by Decree No 192, effective 2 August 2024. Serves as Director of the Protocol Directorate.
He speaks German and English.
