Head of State Rumen Radev will host the launch of the commercial operations ceremony of the Gas Interconnector Greece - Bulgaria
On 1 October, Head of State Rumen Radev will host the launch of the commercial operations ceremony of the Gas Interconnector Greece – Bulgaria (IGB). The event will take place at 11:00 o'clock in Hall 3 of the National Palace of Culture.
The IGB is of strategic importance for southeast Europe and provides an opportunity for real energy diversification of natural gas suppliers to the region. The interconnector provides Bulgaria with direct access to the Southern Gas Corridor and natural gas supplies via the Trans Adriatic Pipeline (TAP), the Trans Anatolian Natural Gas Pipeline (TANAP) and, in the near future, from the LNG terminal near Alexandroupolis.
At the invitation of the Bulgarian President, the ceremony will be attended by European Commission President, Ursula von der Leyen, the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev, the President of the Republic of North Macedonia, Stevo Pendarovski, the President of the Republic of Serbia, Aleksandar Vucic, the Prime Minister of the Hellenic Republic, Kyriakos Mitsotakis, the Prime Minister of Romania, Nicolae Ciuca, Bulgaria's Prime Minister, Galab Donev, as well as by ICGB Executive Officers, Teodora Georgieva and George Satlas.
President Radev will also hold bilateral meetings with heads of delegations participating in the ceremony.
