President and UK Ambassador Discuss Cooperation in the Field of Security and the Fight against Illegal Migration
2025-07-31 17:13:00President Rumen Radev held a meeting with the British Ambassador to Bulgaria, H. E. Nathaniel Copsey, at which they discussed further deepening bilateral cooperation in the fight against illegal migration and international organised crime. The head of state highly appreciated the UK's support for Bulgaria in securing the EU's external borders. Rumen Radev and Nathaniel Copsey discussed the fruitful partnership within NATO, as well as ensuring security in the Black Sea. Among the topics of conversation between Rumen Radev and Nathaniel Copsey was the strengthening of the rule of law and the independence of the judiciary.

For projects aimed at improving connectivity between Bulgaria and Turkiye must be viewed as a whole, to be successful, and within the context of closer cooperation in Southeastern Europe. This will bolster both economic development and security in the region, whose strategic importance is growing. This was stated by President Iliana Iotova at a meeting with Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan, who is on a formal visit to Bulgaria.
