President meets Uganda's Chief of Defence Forces

2022-11-02 17:29:00

Opportunities for further strengthening of bilateral cooperation between the Republic of Bulgaria and the Republic of Uganda in the field of defence were discussed today by President Rumen Radev and visiting Ugandan Chief of Defence Forces, Gen. Wilson Mbadi.

Uganda plays a key role in peacekeeping in Africa and can count on Bulgaria's support for its efforts in this direction, the head of State said at the meeting. The armed forces of the Republic of Uganda are actively engaged in peacekeeping missions on the African continent, and the country purchases military equipment from Bulgaria, but also relies on training programmes in Bulgaria for Ugandan armed forces personnel.

The two concurred that it is in the interest of security in Europe and Africa that the defence cooperation between the two countries should be further developed by increasing training opportunities as well as promoting cooperation in aerospace and aviation technologies.
