Radev meets EIB President

Opportunities for increasing investments in innovations and high technologies were the focus of a meeting between head of State Rumen Radev and the visiting President of the European Investment Bank, Werner Hoyer. 
 
The two concurred that Europe's future belongs to innovation and therefore more investment is needed in this direction. The President emphasised Bulgaria's potential in information technologies and innovations because of its specialists, pointing out that in those areas this country can play a proactive and key role in the region. 
 
The EIB's support for the Bulgarian economy grew substantially last year, with the total amount of projects financed in 2021 amounting to nearly EUR 1 billion. The head of State hailed the EIB's fruitful cooperation with the business sector in Bulgaria and highly appreciated the Bank's contribution to promoting entrepreneurship and high-tech and innovation projects. 
 
The EIB President expressed confidence that the successful cooperation with our country will continue, including with projects related to the construction of a green economy. He highlighted the Bank's support to companies in the country affected by the pandemic, and over the past year, it has financed key infrastructure projects that improved the life of people in Bulgaria.
