Rumen Radev held a meeting with European Commissioner for Neighbourhood and Enlargement, Oliver Varhelyi

The European integration process of the Republic of North Macedonia should be sustainable and build on its achievements in meeting the EU membership criteria. This is what President Rumen Radev said at a meeting with visiting European Commissioner for Neighbourhood and Enlargement, Oliver Varhelyi. The two held a one-to-one meeting today at the presidency.

The Bulgarian head of State expressed this country's position, which expects results in the bilateral dialogue with our south-western neighbour, including the provision of constitutional guarantees for the respect of the rights of the Macedonian Bulgarians and real actions for the eradication of hate speech, the preservation of the centuries-old Bulgarian cultural and historical heritage, and the implementation of the bilateral treaty on friendship, good neighbourliness and cooperation. Bulgaria is open to dialogue with the Republic of North Macedonia and with European institutions and partners in the search for sustainable solutions, President Rumen Radev concluded.
