The Head of State held a meeting with the Prime Minister of Croatia within the Three Seas Initiative
That Bulgaria and Croatia will unite their efforts in deepening the European integration of both countries was a joint position, shared by the President Rumen Radev and the Prime Minister of the Republic of Croatia Andrej Plenkovi?, who held a meeting today in Sofia. The discussion was part of the Sixth Three Seas Initiative Summit and Business Forum in the National Palace of Culture in Sofia.
Bulgaria’s and Croatia’s accession to Schengen was also among the topics discussed at the meeting between Rumen Radev and Andrej Plenkovi?. Both shared the position that what has been achieved by both countries should be acknowledged, and it should lead to results. The Bulgarian Head of State emphasised the effective fight against corruption, crime and illegal migration as a key factor of our country’s achievement in the ambitions for becoming a member of Schengen. “We share a common path in this, and it should be marked, not by competition, but by partnership,” the Croatian Prime Minister pointed out.
The European perspective of the Western Balkans was also discussed. Andrej Plenkovi? stated that it is in the interest of the entire region to achieve progress in the accession talks for the Republic of North Macedonia. The Bulgarian Head of State emphasised that over the past months, dialogue with our south-western neighbour had been restored, and that through such dialogue sustainable and irreversible results in bilateral relations between Bulgaria and the Republic of North Macedonia would be achieved, in order to commence the EU Accession talks for our neighbour.
