2018-01-18 17:58:00

Bulgaria and Austria will work to ensure continuity of the EU Policies and will also work on all topics on the EU agenda during their consecutive presidencies of the Council of the EU. This was the common stance shared by President Rumen Radev and Dr. Karin Kneissl, Austria’s Federal Minister for Europe, Integration and Foreign Affairs, who held talks at 2 Dondukov street today.

Europe faces a plethora of external and internal challenges and this requires that common decisions and actions should be taken with respect to the stability in the neighboring regions, the migration crisis and the reform of the Dublin Regulation, the EU budget after Brexit, and also the common debate on Europe’s future, it was emphasized at the meeting. “Preserving the potential of the Cohesion Policy for the Eastern European countries is extremely important for Bulgaria,” Rumen Radev said.

At the meeting the Head of State highlighted the Republic of Austria’s considerable importance as Bulgaria’s economic and investment partner and called for strengthening the bilateral relations in the future in the sphere of research, education and culture.
