Vice-president Iliana Yotova and the President of Moldova Igor Dodon Discussed the Preservation of the Identity and Safeguarding the Rights of the Bulgarian Community in Taraclia

In Istanbul Vice-president Iliana Yotova and the President of Moldova Igor Dodon discussed the administrative regulations of the Taraclia region and the preservation of the identity and safeguarding the rights of the Bulgarian community there. Bulgarian Vice-president Iliana Yotova and the President of Moldova Igor Dodon are in Istanbul on the occasion of the 25th anniversary since the Black Sea Economic Cooperation Organization was established.

Vice-president Yotova emphasized that Moldova is one of the countries in which conditions have been created for preserving and developing the cultural and language identity of the Bulgarian community.

Igor Dodon, for his part, assured that the Bulgarians’ rights in the Taraclia region will be protected. The two discussed the possibility for transforming the University of Taraclia into a branch of a Bulgarian institute of higher education, whereby an opportunity will be created for issuing European diplomas and the University will thus enjoy higher prestige in the region.

The Vice-president voiced her readiness to visit the Taraclia region. The idea for establishing a Bulgarian cultural center in Moldova’s capital Kishinev was discussed at the meeting. Igor Dodon also invited President Rumen Radev to visit the Republic of Moldova.
