Bulgaria enjoys a high reputation in Mongolia and this is a condition for a good economic cooperation. We can achieve much better results and we have outlined an ambitious program. This is how President Rosen Plevneliev summarized the results from his state visit to Mongolia. “For Mongolia Bulgaria is a leader in sectors such as the ICT one, agriculture and food production, energy, in the building of infrastructure,” the Head of State told journalists in Ulan Bator.

Bulgaria will implement in Mongolia a pilot project worth more than 1 million US dollars on a greenhouse for the production of vegetables employing a Bulgarian technology and carried out by Bulgarian specialists, the Head of State said. The pilot project will allow Bulgaria to get into the Mongolian market and new opportunities will open up for our specialists and for the production of Bulgarian agriculture production. The whole equipment and engineering will be provided by Bulgaria and the funding is provided by Mongolia.

Mongolia shows an interest in the automated system for controlling the subsidies in the sector of stock breeding, as well as regarding the standards for the production of milk and dairy products and other food, the President added.

In the ICT sector, the President recalled that in Mongolia a Bulgarian company is already implementing a project on building a transport oversight system. The Mongolian authorities also show an interest in the introduction of a system for SMS parking, for an integrated urban transport, as well as in establishing an urban mobility center. To this effect, the Mayor of Ulan Bator is to visit our country by the end of the year. The mayor will also study Bulgaria’s experience in building Sofia’s subway.

The Bulgarian companies in the IT sector also have an enormous potential to successfully implement projects on improving the access to internet and providing e-services to the people.

In the mining sector, our country is already realizing an investment worth 2 million US dollars made by a Bulgarian company and we are seeking next steps, the President said. In his words, Bulgarian companies have the potential to explore on concession ores and minerals fields.
The Mongolian authorities are offering the Bulgarian companies to process traditional Mongolian raw materials and to export food production to third countries, China being the most perspective market, Rosen Plevneliev further informed. The President also highlighted the opportunities in the Energy sector, where the experience in the engineering and design of Bulgarian companies may be used in the forthcoming construction of hydro-electric power stations and wind-energy parks in Mongolia.

Within the framework of the Head of State’s visit to Mongolia, an agreement was reached to organize an expedition of Bulgarian scholars to explore unprocessed archaeological valuables under the UNESCO standards.

“Although we laid a new foundation, we should be active. The attitude to Bulgaria is wonderful and we should learn to achieve concrete results from this fact,” the Head of State commented.
