Achieving the goals set in the Danube strategy will contribute to the stability and the sustainable economic development of the whole European Union. This is what was emphasized by President Rosen Plevneliev and Dr. Erwin Proel, prime minister of the Lower Austria province, who held talks today. The Bulgarian Head of State is on a two-day visit to the Republic of Austria.

Austria is top investor in Bulgaria and we will continue to encourage the Austrian companies to work and achieve success in our country. Our country shows the same attitude to the investors, irrespective of the investments made, the Head of State emphasized. Rosen Plevneliev thanked  Erwin Proel for the friendly attitude and active support displayed by Austria, which is “an extremely important engine  for the economic development of Europe.”

“We are good friends and therefore we can calmly speak even when we face problems. In such cases the mutual trust between the partners is extremely important,” the Head of State further said.

“In the past years Bulgaria achieved good results and currently has inspiring  prospects for its future. Bulgaria actively participates in the process of Europe’s development and has already earned a good reputation,” Dr. Proel said.  Erwin Proel also emphasized that the companies should observe the effective law rules. “We have different opinions and the arbitrage judges will have a say on them,’ Erwin Proel further said.

The transition period in the past 25 years in East Europe was also discussed at the meeting, as well as the situation in Ukraine.

President Plevneliev will later take part in the Austrian National Television “Focus Europe” discussion. Leading politicians from central Europe will participate in the TV program.
