The President held a working meeting on the situation in Ukraine

President Rosen Plevneliev held a working meeting with Foreign Minister Kristian Vigenin and the directors of the Defence Information Service and the National Intelligence Service on the situation in Ukraine.

The Head of State was offered detailed information about the assessment of the Foreign Ministry and the services about the threats posed to Bulgaria’s national security by the developments in Ukraine.

Subject to debate was the preparation of the extraordinary meeting of the EU Foreign Affairs Council, due to be held on 3 March in Brussels, as well as the Bulgarian positions on the meeting of the North-Atlantic Council held today. The Bulgarian position is that the European Union should voice support for preserving the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine.

The Head of State and the responsible institutions continue to closely follow the situation.
