President Rosen Plevneliev on a working visit to the United States

From 29 April to 1 May President Rosen Plevneliev will be on a working visit in the United States to take part in commemorating 100 years since the establishment of the Anti-Defamation League. The participation of the president in the anniversary is part of the program for commemorating 70 years of the Bulgarian people's feat and the salvation of the Bulgarian Jewish community during World War Two.

The anniversary of the Anti-Defamation League will be marked on 30 April at a gala dinner in Washington titled "Imagine a world without hatred."  More then 1,000 people will attend the event, representatives of the organization, of of different religions, human rights activists, as well as representatives of the US Congress, of the White House, of the State Department, of the business environment. The Anti-Defamation League (ADL) was established in 1913 with the aim of stopping the process of defamation of the Jewish people and securing justice and a just attitude to everyone. The organization works to defend the democratic values and civil rights, builds bridges for communication, understanding and mutual respect between different communities.

On 30 April President Rosen Plevneliev will take part in a debate on the topic "Cross-Atlantic link in a new era", organized by the Institute for Cultural Diplomacy, the International Research Faculty at the John Hopkins University and the German Marshall fund of the United States. Scholars and experts in security and diplomacy issues will debate the strategic EU-US partnership, as well as issues reated to peace and security. In his statement, the Bulgarian president will lay the emphasis on the cross-Atlantic economic relations, as well on issues of energy security.

On 1 May, Wednesday, the head of state will be a guest-lecturer of a debate dedicated to Europe's future, organized by the European Institute. The NGO, based in Washington, works to strengthen the cross-Atlantic relationships. The organization was founded 23 years ago and is a renowned institute for debating issues related to the European Union and European integration.   

President Rosen Plevneliev will hold meetings with representatives of the International Monetary Fund and Jim Yong Kim, World Bank Group President.
