Head of State: Bulgaria has the ambition for a much more active partnership in energy and high technologies with the United Arab Emirates

Bulgaria has the ambition for a much more active bilateral dialogue with the United Arab Emirates, leading to specific results in energy, high technologies, innovation, transport and other areas of mutual interest. This is what President Rumen Radev said when he arrived in Abu Dhabi for his official visit to the United Arab Emirates on 1-2 September. The Head of State was greeted by a guard of honour and held a working meeting with Ahmed Ali Al Sayegh, Minister of State, who also coordinates bilateral relations with the Republic of Bulgaria. The visit of the Bulgarian President is at the invitation of the UAE President and Ruler of Abu Dhabi, His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, who will welcome Radev tomorrow at a ceremony at the Presidential Palace in Abu Dhabi. The two will have a private meeting, after which plenary talks will be held between the official delegations of Bulgaria and the UAE.
 
A Memorandum of Strategic Partnership between Bulgaria and the United Arab Emirates will be signed in the presence of the two presidents. The aim of the agreement is to promote the cooperation in a wide range of areas, including economy, trade, investment, tourism, education, digital technologies, culture, youth and sports.
 
Bilateral documents of understanding will also be signed at the Presidential Palace in Abu Dhabi in the fields of tourism, agriculture, education, culture, as well as a Memorandum of Understanding for news exchange and cooperation between the Bulgarian News Agency and the UAE News Agency (WAM). The two countries are also working to reach an Agreement on the promotion and mutual protection of investments between the governments of Bulgaria and the UAE.
 
President Rumen Radev will open a business forum in Abu Dhabi, which will be attended by representatives of companies from both countries in the fields of high-tech manufacturing and innovation, transport, information and communication technologies, energy, and the defence industry.
