2018-07-03 17:31:00

Bulgaria and Vietnam will work so as to promote mutual investments in the spheres of IT and electronics and also to increase the bilateral exchange in tourism. This was the common opinion shared by President Rumen Radev and the Foreign Minister of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam Pham Binh Minh, who held a meeting at 2 Dondukov street today. The two were unanimous that the dynamics of the political dialogue in the past years is a condition for making the economic partnership more active.

“We welcome the consensus reached on concluding the negotiations on free trade between the EU and Vietnam. The fact that it will come into force will facilitate the development of the investment and trade potential of our countries. Bulgaria can take advantage of the opportunities offered by the dynamic and strategic Vietnamese market and at the same time will become an attractive place for investments from Vietnam and the other countries from the region,” the President said. Rumen Radev noted that recently Vietnam has reaffirmed itself as one of the high-tech countries in Asia and this opens up new prospects for strengthening the bilateral partnership.

At the meeting the Head of State called for resuming the work of the Interdepartmental Bulgarian-Vietnamese Mixed Commission for Trade and Scientific Cooperation, and Pham Binh Minh emphasized that Vietnam is ready to raise the level of the Head of the Commission, for their part, and this will from now on be the Economy Minister. The prospects for strengthening the bilateral cooperation in the defense and military technologies sphere were also discussed at the meeting.

“The fact that almost 30,000 Vietnamese citizens who have taken their university degree in Bulgaria currently occupy important positions in the business and the Vietnamese state administration unveils the great potential and is a solid basis to develop the bilateral relations,” the Head of State said. Rumen Radev emphasized that Bulgaria is a regional education hub in Southeast Europe and voiced our country’s readiness to restore the good traditions in the bilateral cooperation in the sphere of higher education.
