President Radev Had a Phone Call with his Azerbaijani Counterpart Ilham Aliyev

2018-01-09 11:45:00

President Rumen Radev had a telephone call with the Head of State of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev on the occasion of the forthcoming opening of a direct air route between Sofia and Baku.  The direct air link between the two capitals was negotiated during the Bulgarian Head of State’s official visit in Azerbaijan in October 2017.

“Thank you for the efforts and political will to open the air line, which we discussed during our meeting in Baku,” Rumen Radev said. The two Presidents voiced conviction that the direct air route between Bulgaria and Azerbaijan will not only bring economic benefits to the two countries and foster the tourist and business links, but will also promote bilateral cooperation.

Rumen Radev and Ilham Aliyev discussed the opportunity for Azeri companies to take part in the gasification of households in Bulgaria. President Aliyev voiced the interest of the local business way back in October, with respect to the low level of gasification of the households in Bulgaria. “We are working in this direction and we expect specialists from your country to come, so that we can discuss the topic on an expert level,” President Radev said.

The Bulgarian Head of State reiterated our country’s support for the construction of the South Gas Corridor, in the implementation of which Azerbaijan plays a key role. “This project is extremely important not only for Bulgaria, but also for the energy diversification of Europe,” Rumen Radev said.
