2017-07-06 10:17:00

Thank you for preserving your Bulgarian identity, spirit and culture and sharing them with the fraternal Polish people on Polish land. You are the live bridge between our two peoples and Bulgaria’s face in Poland. These were the words with which President Rumen Radev addressed representatives of the Bulgarian community in the Republic of Poland during his first visit in the country as Head of State.

The President’s meeting with the Bulgarian community in Poland was attended by ministers, representatives of the executive branch of government namely the Foreign and Defense Ministries of Poland, of the legislative, local and regional authorities and Bulgaria’s Honorary Consuls in the Republic of Poland.

“The ties between Bulgaria and Poland are becoming stronger in all spheres, not only in the sphere of bilateral trade and investments, but also in the sphere of  economic projects. However, the most important thing that connects our two peoples are the deep historical, spiritual and cultural ties,” Rumen Radev further said in the Bulgarian Embassy in Warsaw.

The President briefed the Bulgarians in Poland on the goals of his visit and highlighted the connectivity between the two countries in the infrastructure and economy sphere as spheres in which much more can be achieved. “The joint construction of the infrastructure and improving the digital connectivity will make the connection between our two peoples easier, quicker and more convenient. They will ensure even greater security and prosperity for the region and for our two countries,” the President said.

“Next year Bulgaria and Poland will mark the 100th anniversary of the diplomatic relations between the two countries. We take pride in the fact that Bulgaria and Poland as NATO allies and EU partners set an example of excellent relations between two modern European countries,” Emil Yalnuzov,  Bulgarian Ambassador to Poland said.

After talking with our compatriots, Head of State Rumen Radev visited an exhibition dedicated to the Apostle of Freedom Vasil Levski in the Bulgarian Cultural Institute in Warsaw.

The Bulgarian President is on a working visit in the Republic of Poland to take part in the top-level meeting of the Three Seas initiative, which unites 12 countries from Central and Eastern Europe and in the Global Forum organized by the Atlantic Council.
