The strategic partnership established between Bulgaria and Azerbaijan with the declaration signed between the two presidents in Sofia in 2015 is already filled with content. This is the shared position of Head of State Rosen Plevneliev and President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev at a meeting held in Baku. The two countries trust each other and have the political will to deepen their cooperation in the energy, high technologies, pharmacy and food production sectors, where our country has strong positions, it emerged at the talks.
President Aliyev pointed out that Azerbaijan is working hard to sign a strategic partnership agreement with the EU and relies on Bulgaria’s support to quickly conclude the negotiations.
The construction of the South Gas Corridor is going according to schedule despite the difficulties caused by the low prices of natural gas, President Aliyev said at the meeting. President Rosen Plevneliev highlighted that Bulgaria is making progress in the implementation of the projects on constructing gas inter-connectors with its neighboring countries. The inter-connector with Romania is planned to be completed in 2016 and the construction of that with Greece will begin. Bulgaria is working hard to establish the gas links with Serbia and Turkey. The Head of State pointed out that the gas inter-connectors and the South Gas Corridor project will help our country overcome its dependence on one supplier so as to achieve real diversification, as well as market prices of natural gas.
In May 2016 the project on reconstructing the Trapezitsa hill in Veliko Turnovo is expected to be completed which is implemented with the help of the Gaydar Aliyev foundation. President Plevneliv thanked for the support offered.
