President Rosen Plevneliev: the Bulgarian Institutions Are Observing the Process in Greece and Have Taken the Necessary Measures

2015-07-03 16:13:00
Bulgaria is well prepared, no matter what happens in Greece. This is what President Rosen Plevneliev told journalists during his working visit to Bosnia and Herzegovina, where he received the highest European Personality of the Year in Southeast and Central Europe Award for 2015.

“There is always a crisis in neighboring countries, no matter in which one and we suffer from this fact,” President Plevneliev commented. In his words, Bulgaria has learned its lessons from more than one crises it came across. “The Bulgarian economy is stable and is developing, our banks enjoy high liquidity and will cope with any situation,” Rosen Plevneliev emphasized. The Head of State commented that the Bulgarian institutions closely observe the process and have taken all necessary measures. “Bulgaria is well prepared and will pass with dignity through any crisis in the region, including the one in Greece,” the President was adamant.

The Head of State emphasized that our country would like the crises to be quickly resolved, no matter where they arise – in Europe and in the world. “Our friends in Greece are experiencing difficult times and we should show understanding and hope that their critical situation will be normalized as soon as possible,” President Plevneliev said.

The Head of State highlighted that the problems are not solved only by injecting money. “The crises are solved with the responsible actions taken by politicians who conduct reforms and guarantee stability, the stability that later ensures investments, growth and development,” the President emphasized and voiced hope that Greece will take bold actions to implement reforms that will lead to stability, which will ensure that the economy and the nation will progress.

“Only together can we guarantee peace, our own prosperity and be attractive for investments,” President Rosen Plevneliev said at the business forum in Sarajevo. In the Head of State’s words, only if the countries in the region are united can they have competitive prices of electricity, natural gas and of a lot more goods and services. “Only together can we overcome the crises such as the unprecedented migration flow and even the terrorist acts. Only together can we guarantee that the Balkans become a region we all dream of – peaceful and prosperous,” the President said.

The Head of State highlighted that Bulgaria’s consistent policy of good-neighborly relations in the Balkans, which is speeded up and built on, is already producing results and the country is enjoying a high reputation in the region.  “You see that we find open doors everywhere,” the President highlighted and assured that our country will continue to be an engine and factor of good-neighborliness and connectivity, of economic cooperation and common projects in the region. Bulgaria is a leading participant in a couple of cross-national programs which are currently implemented. “Bulgarian foreign policy is focused on the region and our country has the self-confidence to be an uncircumventable factor ensuring peace, stability and prosperity in the Balkans,” the Head of State concluded.

Later President Rosen Plevneliev discussed the regional development and the opportunities for economic cooperation in the region at the meeting he held with the President of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina Mladen Ivanic.
