President Plevneliev met with students at the Nicolaus Copernicus Observatory in Varna

President Rosen Plevneliev met with students at the Nicolaus Copernicus Observatory in Varna who are participating in international projects at CERN and the United States National Aeronautical and Space Administration (NASA). The young people showed the President projects for space colonies, which have won international awards. The team of future young scientists is the first in Bulgaria to win participation in a real space mission, the launch by NASA of a probe to an asteroid.

President Plevneliev encouraged the young people to maintain their high level of achievement and expressed hope that they would continue to represent the country so impressively in the community of young scientists from around the world.

During his visit, the President was briefed on the structure of the observatory, its goals and objectives, as well as ongoing international projects in which it participates jointly with foreign partners. So far students at the Varna Observatory have won seven such projects.

For projects aimed at improving connectivity between Bulgaria and Turkiye must be viewed as a whole, to be successful, and within the context of closer cooperation in Southeastern Europe. This will bolster both economic development and security in the region, whose strategic importance is growing.
