Our Compatriots in Romania Told the Head of State that They Want Educational Programs for the Study of Bulgarian and More Teachers

2015-02-21 11:42:00
At a meeting held with President Rosen Plevneliev, representatives of the Bulgarian minority in Romania requested programs for studying Bulgarian and sending more Bulgarian teachers. Foreign Minister Daniel Mitov and Nikolae Mirkovici, MP from the Union of the Banat Bulgarians in the Romanian parliament took part in the meeting held on Friday evening.

“We feel the support of the Bulgarian state not only in Banat, but also in the other towns and villages in which representatives of the Bulgarian community in Romania live. However, preserving the mother tongue, particularly among the younger generations, requires Bulgaria’s active support,” MP Nikolae Mirkovici said. Our compatriots in Romania emphasized before the Head of State that there is one single teacher in Bulgarian in Bucharest and requested that our country resumes that refresher courses in mother tongue for the representatives of the Bulgarian minority, which were taught in the past in Bulgaria – in the town of Gabrovo.

A great problem that Bulgarians in Bucharest are facing is the lack of their own orthodox temple, which should be a spiritual center for the Bulgarian community in the capital of Romania, our compatriots further pointed out. The Head of State said that the issue was debated at the meeting he held in Bucharest and Romania had promised assistance to resolve the issue.

Our compatriots in Romania requested that the process of acquiring Bulgarian citizenship be speeded up and the Head of State emphasized that the cases involving an unreasonable delay of replying to the already submitted applications to the Bulgarian institutions will be checked.

The considerable growth of the bilateral trade and the increasing number of companies willing to establish and expand their positions in Romania create favorable conditions for more efficiently using the property of the Bulgarian organizations, the representatives of the Federation of the Bulgarian community in Romania further said. The organization is working so as to establish a multifunctional center, in which not only a Bulgarian school and a kindergarten, but also representative offices of Bulgarian companies will be located, which will ensure its financial maintenance.
