President Rosen Plevneliev Congratulated Petro Poroshenko on the occasion of his Inauguration as President of Ukraine.

In his letter of congratulations to the leader of Ukraine, the Bulgarian Head of State said that the people of Ukraine made a decisive step on the path of their European and democratic development at the presidential elections held on 25 May. “Ukraine opened a new page in its history in which democracy, the rule of law and the protection of human rights and freedoms will be guiding principles and holding a constructive dialogue – the only way to cope with the difficulties,” the letter written by the Bulgarian President says.

“It is your vocation to lead the country towards long-term peace and stability and I believe that you will be the president-unifier, who will overcome confrontation and the splitting of society,” President Rosen Plevneliev wrote to his Ukrainian counterpart. The Head of State emphasized that the engine of integration is the only means to fight isolation and destabilization and imminent decisive actions should be taken and reforms conducted today so as to restore the policy based on the law-governed state and the freedom of speech in Ukraine.

President Rosen Plevneliev once again reiterated Bulgaria’s support for the sovereignty, unity and territorial integrity of Ukraine.  “I believe that the big Bulgarian community in Your country will continue to be a kind of bridge between our two Slavic peoples and a basis for developing and building on the relationships between Bulgaria and Ukraine,” the Head of State’s letter addressed to Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko further says.
