The President Discussed The Opportunities For Investments In Bulgaria With The Leadership Of “Qatar Holding”

2014-03-12 12:21:00

“Qatar Holding” has an interest in investing in a lot of sectors of the Bulgarian economy and is discussing the implementation of concrete projects with representatives of the Bulgarian institutions. This is what became clear after the meeting President Rosen Plevneliev held with Ahmad Mohamed Al-Sayed, CEO of the Qatari State Investment Corporation “Qatar Holding”.

One of the biggest investment companies in the world is willing to take part in the development of tourism in Bulgaria, including the winter and spa resorts. “They also expressed interest in making investments in the cultural and historical tourism in Bulgaria and popularizing Bulgarian history,” the Head of State told Bulgarian journalists in Doha.

The construction of office and residential buildings on the territory of the former military units in Sofia, next to the terrains on which Sofia Tech Park is to be built was also discussed at the meeting. The State Investment Corporation in Qatar is interested in signing agreements in the construction sector and the strategic real estates and obtaining concessions for the extraction of metals in Bulgaria, including gold and copper.

Ahmad Mohamed Al-Sayed confirmed before the Bulgarian President the corporation’s interest in agriculture projects in Bulgaria and in the production of meat and dairy products. “Although the development of a long-term national program in support of agriculture to be funded by “Qatar Holding” is absolutely plausible, the state should also do a lot of work because Qatar relies on the close cooperation with the institutions,” the President commented. He added that the success of such projects also depends on the activity of the Bulgarian Agriculture Academy, the organizations in the branch and the specialized agriculture institutes.

At the meeting Ahmad Mohamed Al-Sayed emphasized the readiness of the state investment corporation to support the companies from Bulgaria which are willing to make investments in Qatar.

On the last day of his official visit to Qatar, President Plevneliev held talks with Mohamed bin Mubarak al-Kholaifi, chairman of the Consultative Assembly of Qatar and visited the Museum of Islamic Art in Doha.
