Prime Minister Boyko Borisov informed President Rosen Plevneliev of the Government's decision to annul a previous decision by the Council of Ministers to build Belene nuclear power station. The Prime Minister said that the reason was that a project on this scale cannot be financially supported by Bulgaria. The Government said that on the basis of the facts available, it would be economically feasible to choose the option of building unit seven of Kozloduy nuclear power station, as the site has most of the supporting infrastructure, and this would ensure the future of nuclear energy in the country. The Prime Minister said that all efforts in Bulgaria’s energy policy should be directed towards achieving greater efficiency in the production, transmission and production of energy.

We have good contacts with the trade unions and this dialogue will develop in the future. This was said by President Rosen Plevneliev, who met today at 2 Dondoukov Boulevard with the General Secretary of the International Trade Union Confederation, Sharan Burrow. Ms Burrow is visiting Bulgaria for the opening of an international conference entitled "Employment and Income - Dialogue for Growth and a Better Future for Bulgaria”.

Education, spirituality, consistent work and a clear vision – these are necessary to ensure a strong future for Bulgaria, President Rosen Plevneliev said in his speech at the official ceremony in the capital on the occasion of Bulgaria’s National Day on March 3. "Today we not only honour the victims, but also we are aware that we must work for the fulfillment of the hopes and towards finding the genuine and true road that modern Bulgaria must take – the road that leads us to dream of a pure and sacred Republic in the interest of its citizens,” the President said.
