President Rosen Plevneliev announced that he stands for a common energy strategy for the Danube countries, which will improve energy security by connecting the systems for transfer of energy resources. Diversification of energy sources is a European priority, reminded the President expressing his concern about the risks of a new gas crisis in Bulgaria with regard to trade relations between Ukraine and the Russian Federation.

The preparation of the construction of new bridges between Bulgaria and Romania in Silistra – Calarasi, Oryahovo - Bechet, Nikopol - Turnu Magurele as well as expansion of the existing bridge at Ruse - Giurgiu is set out in the Action Plan of the Inter-ministerial Committee for Sustainable Development of Inland Waterway Transport and Connectivity in the Region. President Rosen Plevneliev stated this in Silistra when opening the discussion on the overall priorities of Bulgaria and Romania in the period 2014-2020.

A decisive step towards Ukraine’s European integration will serve both Bulgaria’s interests and those of the Bulgarian community there. This is what President Rosen Plevneliev said, who met at 2 Dondukov street Anton Kisse, chief of the Association of the Bulgarians in Ukraine. The Head of State is expected to visit the country during the first half of 2014.

The Bulgarian presidency of the Organization of the Black Sea Economic Cooperation (OBSEC) will work for adopting a project-oriented regional approach and for achieving concrete results of the OBSEC priorities in the first half of 2014. Our country is taking over the six-month rotating presidency of the regional organization as of 1 January 2014.
