The European Energy Union will strengthen not only the security of the EU member-states, but also their competitiveness. This was the opinion shared by Bulgarian President Rosen Plevneliev and Polish President Bronislaw Komorowski, who held talks in Warsaw today. The Bulgarian Head of State is on an official visit to the Republic of Poland at President Komorowski’s invitation.

The President of Poland awarded President Rosen Plevneliev with Poland’s highest decoration - the Order of the White Eagle. The order is awarded as a sign of acknowledgment of the Head of State’s contribution to the active bilateral dialogue and the development of the partnership between the Republic of Bulgaria and the Republic of Poland.

Religion was one of the basic enemies of the totalitarian state and the people who refused to give up religion were subjected to persecution. Despite all attempts a lot of bold Bulgarian citizens did not give in and did not give up their faith and the right to freely profess their religion. This is what President Rosen Plevneliev said at the opening ceremony of the monument of St. Pope John Paul II in the town of Belene, where the Apostolic Nuncio Monsignore Anselmo Guido Pekorari was in Bulgaria.
