This was the position that untied President Rosen Plevneliev and UNESCO Director-General Irina Bokova, who had talks today at „Dondukov“ 2. Both were adamant that the terrorist attack on the office of the French satirical newspaper „Charlie Hebdo“ is a barbarous and inhuman act of violence against the freedom of speech and the values on which the modern democratic world is based.

The President took a firm stand against participation of the army in curtailing the migration pressure on the country’s borders

The Head of State Rosen Plevneliev expects 2015 to be one of hard work, of meaningful endeavours, of much less confrontation and of more political accord. The President made his first statement before journalists after he took part in the ritual for consecration of the military flags and the sacred banners of the Bulgarian army in front of the monument to the Unknown soldier in the capital.

President Rosen Plevneliev: the Language of Hatred Should Not be Tolerated

The language of hatred is frequently used, yet it should not be tolerated, President Rosen Plevneliev said in the Sofia Synagogue, where he traditionally greets the Jewish community on the occasion of the Festival of Lights. The Head of State lit the main candle of Hanukkah whereby he conveyed the message of peace and understanding, of tolerance and humanism.
