Bulgaria is an example of the positive impact European integration has on the economic development, the stability of the institutions and the strengthening of the principles of democracy and rule of law. This is what President Rosen Plevneliev said at a meeting he held with David Usupashvili, chairperson of Georgia’s parliament, who is paying an official visit to Bulgaria at the invitation of the chairperson of the National Assembly.

At a meeting held with President Rosen Plevneliev, representatives of the Bulgarian minority in Romania requested programs for studying Bulgarian and sending more Bulgarian teachers. Foreign Minister Daniel Mitov and Nikolae Mirkovici, MP from the Union of the Banat Bulgarians in the Romanian parliament took part in the meeting held on Friday evening.

President Rosen Plevneliev and representatives of the Romanian business discussed the opportunities for promoting the economic cooperation, increasing the Romanian investments and the number of Romanian tourists in Bulgaria at a meeting held in Bucharest. The Head of State highlighted the good relations between the companies from similar sectors in the two countries.

“For Bulgaria Romania is a good neighbor, partner and ally. The two countries intend to adopt a common approach to the key issues on the Southeast-European and EU agenda.” This is what President Rosen Plevneliev said at a joint news conference given together with his Romanian counterpart Klaus Iohannis in Bucharest. President Plevneliev is the first Head of State who is paying an official visit to Romania after President Iohannis took office. Rosen Plevneliev emphasized that the two countries have the ambition to achieve concrete results regarding energy diversification and enhancing the security of the natural gas supplies.
