The opportunities Bulgaria has to strengthen its economic ties with the Latin American and Caribbean states will be among the topics President Rosen Plevneliev will discuss during his forthcoming talks in Brussels. The Head of State is in the Belgian capital to take part in the EU and the Community of Latin American and Caribbean states (CELAC) Summit.

The progress on building the South Gas Corridor, the inter-systemic gas connector between Bulgaria and Greece and the inter-connectors with Bulgaria’s other neighboring countries, were among the topics discussed at the meeting between President Rosen Plevneliev and Amos Hochstein, Special Envoy and Coordinator for International Energy Affairs in the US Department of State.

“From now on Bulgaria has its state sign of paying tribute to the great Tsar Samuil.” This is what President Rosen Plevneliev said, who attended the ceremony whereby a monument of the Bulgarian Tsar Samuil (997-1014) was unveiled. The solemn consecration was made by His Holiness the Bulgarian Patriarch Neofit, after which President Rosen Plevneliev received the solemn march of the National Guard Unit.

The countries that do not have natural resources such as petroleum and natural gas available, may achieve sustainable growth and be successful only if they pool efforts to build working institutions. This is what President Rosen Plevneliev said at the opening ceremony of the European Commission’s initiative “Dialogue with the citizens” in the Kunev Center of the Angel Kunchev University in Russe. The topic of the debate is “the future of Europe” and Frans Timmermans, first vice-president of the European Commission and Robert-Marius Kazanciuc, Romanian justice minister, attended the debate.
