Rosen Plevneliev and Federika Mogherini discussed issues related to regional and international cooperation, to the European and Euro-Atlantic integration of the Western Balkan countries, the conflicts in East Ukraine and the Middle East, the migration problem and the need for European solidarity and to energy security issues. The two shared the opinion that united and joint actions should be taken to overcome the challenges related to the migration pressure along the external EU borders. “We should show unity and solidarity to solve the problems caused by the migration flow,” Federika Mogherini said.

President Rosen Plevneliev awarded the Stara Planina medal first degree to US Ambassador to Bulgaria Marcie Ries for her contribution to strengthening and developing the friendly relations between Bulgaria and the US. The US diplomat presented her letters of credence on 1 October 2012 and her mandate will finish on 28 July 2015.

At a meeting with representatives of the business circles in Kiev President Rosen Plevneliev called on for developing the partnership between Bulgaria and Ukraine in the industries of the future and high-tech production. The meeting took place in the Trade and Industry Chamber in the capital of Ukraine and was attended by more than 150 entrepreneurs.
