The Federal Republic is the biggest trade market for Bulgaria and is always among the leading strategic investors in Bulgaria. In only three years – from 2012 onwards – the bilateral trade has increased by 1.3 billion euros and reached 6.3 billion euros in 2015. 5,000 German companies are active on the Bulgarian market and 1,200 of them have their representations in Bulgaria.

If the EU disintegrates, Europe will be lastingly destabilized because the Union is a project for peace, the rule of law and observing human values. At a discussion with students and pupils held at Sofia University, which Federal President of Germany Joachim Gauck also attended, the Head of State called on the EU member states not to give up further integration and cooperation among each other. President Plevneliev called on for observing the rules and adhering to the achievements and values of united Europe.

The Federal Republic of Germany is Bulgaria’s strategic partner and ally in the EU and NATO. The two countries share and defend European values – peace, democracy, safeguarding human rights and freedoms, the rule of law and are united by the idea of building a peaceful, united and prosperous Europe. This was the common position shared by Head of State Rosen Plevneliev and the President of the Federal Republic of Germany Joachim Gauck, who held talks at 2 Dondukov street today.
