The most important goal at these elections is to have a legitimately elected by the people at fair and decent elections new head of state and not to speculate about what could happen from now on. This is what President Rosen Plevneliev said after he exercised his right to vote at the second round of the presidential elections.

At a meeting held in Budapest with Sir Suma Chakrabarti, President of EBRD, Head of State Rosen Plevneliev called on the institution to support the efforts made by the Southeast European countries to achieve a better infrastructure – transport and energy connectivity.

Bulgaria and Hungary have common historical roots and have cultivated a deep friendship for more than 1,000 years. The two peoples are united also in their fight against communism. This is what President Rosen Plevneliev said at a solemn ceremony in Budapest, at which he was presented with the highest Hungarian state award “Grand Cross of the Hungarian Order of Merit with Chain and Gold Star.” The Bulgarian Head of State received the highest state order for his merits in developing the relations between Bulgaria and Hungary and also for his contribution to reinforcing stability in the region and promoting European cooperation.

In order to achieve a higher economic growth and promote competitiveness, the Eastern European countries should adopt a common approach to attract more investments. This is what President Rosen Plevneliev said at the top-level meeting “Reinvigorating Growth, Competitiveness and Investments” in Budapest. The event is taking place within the EBRD conference “Reinvigorating Growth, Competitiveness and Investments - the EU from the Baltics to the Mediterranean.”

"I call on all political parties and all participants in the forthcoming election to respect the sovereign’s right to make their choice in a free and independent manner. All of us should treat our people with respect, believe in its wisdom and accept the people’s choice no matter what it is", President Plevneliev said in his traditional address to the People before the national elections on the 6th of November.
