For his significant contribution to the promotion and fostering of the international dialogue and for strengthening the friendly relations between the Republic of Malta and the Republic of Bulgaria, President Rosen Plevneliev was awarded Malta’s highest state order, the Companion of Honour of Malta's National Order of Merit.

Migration, protecting the EU's external borders and security issues should be among the top priorities on the bloc's agenda in 2017 and 2018 when Malta and Bulgaria will take over the Presidency EU Council. The two countries will coordinate realistic and feasible priorities that would lead to tangible results for the European citizens. This is what Head of State Rosen Plevneliev and President of Malta Marie Louise Coleiro Preca agreed on in Valletta, within the Bulgarian President’s state visit in the insular country.

Opening a Bulgarian consular mission in Taraclia will bring the Bulgarians in Moldova nearer to their homeland and to Europe, President Rosen Plevneliev said at the Grigorij Tsamblak State University of Taraclia, where he met undergraduates and lecturers of the only Bulgarian institute of higher education abroad.

Head of State Rosen Plevneliev met in Kishinev with Moldova's President-elect Igor Dodon at the latter's request. Rosen Plevneliev and Igor Dodon exchanged views on the situation in Moldova after the November 13 presidential elections and on issues on the regional, European and international agenda.
