NATO’s Allied Maritime Command (MARCOM) highly appreciates Bulgaria’s active participation in the annual Sea Guardian operation in the Mediterranean Sea and also our country’s contribution to the Alliance’s Standing Maritime Groups. This is what President Rumen Radev said at a joint news conference with the Commander of the Allied Maritime Command (MARCOM), Vice Admiral Clive Johnstone, after the two held a meeting at the Allied Maritime Command Headquarters.

Today’s meeting within the Three Seas Initiative is the first step towards assuming specific commitments on the implementation of joint projects. I expect that the agreement signed in Bucharest on cooperation and the establishment of a chambers of commerce and industry network of the member states of the initiative will contribute to regional connectivity.

Without connectivity and integration we cannot achieve quicker convergence and the enormous differences which still exist between Eastern and Western Europe cannot possibly be eliminated. One of the EU’s great problems today is the strengthened impression that Europe’s future is determined by small elite.
