On the fifth day of his visit to the United States, President Rosen Plevneliev met the Bulgarian community in Chicago. In the Botanical Garden of the Windy City, the Head of State assured fellow Bulgarians that the coming years will see a different Bulgaria where “everything is upgraded and developed”. When Bulgaria reaches about 60 per cent of the average standard of living, then the Bulgarians abroad will begin to return home, the President predicted.

At the summit in Chicago, NATO is declaring clearly and categorically that it will work together to expand its skills and be strong and independent, President Rosen Plevneliev said the day before the meeting at the alliance’s highest level. It is expected that heads of state and government of NATO countries will adopt a declaration on the capabilities needed for the development of NATO forces to 2020 and demonstrate a positive vision for the organization's readiness to cope with short- and long-term security challenges.

Experience of leading global companies will be used in the construction of the Sofia Tech Park project

President Rosen Plevneliev invited leading global IT companies to become partners in developing the concept and implementation of Sofia Tech Park. On the third day of his official visit to the United States, President Plevneliev visited the headquarters of Cisco, Google, HP, as well as a NASA research centre in Silicon Valley. The President received the support of American business, which will share its experience in creating the Bulgarian platform for entrepreneurship and innovation in information and communication technology.

Bulgaria may use the expertise of NASA in the development of Technology Park Sofia. This was said by President Rosen Plevneliev, who visited the NASA Research Centre and Technology Park in Silicon Valley. Through the construction of Sofia Tech Park, Bulgaria can become a regional leader, he said. At a meeting with Bulgarians working in large US companies in the region, President Plevneliev urged them to promote Bulgaria’s success. Our compatriots abroad very clearly see the priorities and already know what to ask politicians in Bulgaria, he said, and declared “a new kind of politics, where promises are kept”. He said that this would stimulate civic energy and contribute to a stronger society, with institutions that work and are responsible.
