The difficulties that Bulgaria is currently facing can be overcome by taking measures to secure economic growth and curb unemployment, President Rosen Plevneliev and European Parliament President Martin Shultz emphasized during their meeting in Brussels. The two debated the situation in our country ahead of the forthcoming early general election.

President Rosen Plevneliev and the Head of state of Israel Shimon Peres took part in the official ceremony in the European Parliament in Brussels which commemorated the 70th anniversary of the saving of the Bulgarian Jews during World War II. A documentary exhibition under the title of “A difficult choice of great significance: the fate of the Bulgarian Jews” was opened. Two heads of state, Foreign Minister Nikolay Mladenov, EU commissioner Kristalina Georgieva and MEPs were present at the ceremony.

President Rosen Plevneliev handed down an exploratory mandate for forming a new government to the parliamentary group of the Rights and Freedom’s Movement at 2 Dondukov Street. The mandate was turned down by Lyutvi Mestan, MRF leader. This practically exhausted the option for forming a new government within the current National Assembly, stipulated in the Constitution. The earliest date on which the President will appoint a new caretaker government will be on 13 March, then he will adjourn the 41st National Assembly and will call early general election.
