Croatia’s EU accession opens up new opportunities for encouraging the cooperation with Bulgaria, it will strengthen the voice of the other EU member states from Southeast Europe and is a positive step in the process of promoting the EU principles in our region. This is the position that President Rosen Plevneliev and Croatian President Ivo Josipovich agreed on during their meeting held at 2 Dondukov street.

Guaranteeing financial stability, achieving growth and sustainable development should continue to be among the main priorities of the EU member states. “There is no button in Brussels, the pressing of which will automatically solve the financial and economic crisis, reforms should be conducted everywhere.” This is what President Rosen Plevneliev said at a press conference given by the heads of state from the “Arraiolos” group, which marked the end of the two-day meeting held in the Polish town of Krakow.

Europe should handle not only the economic crisis, but also the crisis of public trust and the Euro-skepticism among the European citizens. This was the position the heads of state of the “Arraiolos” group, who are holding an unofficial meeting in the Polish town of Krakow, agreed on. The presidents of Poland, Germany, Finland, Bulgaria, Estonia, Portugal, Italy and Latvia called on the political leaders in Europe to stop blaming Brussels for their domestic problems, since this also undermines the trust in the EU.

The political crisis in Bulgaria and Europe and its solutions, the development of the countries from Southeast Europe and the Black Sea region, as well as the Eastern partnership in the EU were issues debated at the meeting held between President Rosen Plevneliev and German President Joachim Gauck in Krakow, Poland. The two heads of state are in Poland to take part in the meeting between the presidents from the “Arraiolos” group, together with the presidents of Portugal, Austria, Finland, Poland, Italy, Estonia and Latvia. The Bulgarian Head of State is taking part in a Meeting of the Presidents from this format for the first time.
