On 28 June the Shah Deniz consortium officially announced the choice of the Trans Adriatic gas pipeline (TAP) for the transit of natural gas from the Caspian Sea to Europe. I consider this decision as only the first stage of the construction of the South gas corridor. At the same time I believe that the Nabucco West project preserves its strategic importance for diversifying and guaranteeing the energy security in Europe.

Bulgaria has the will and resource to successfully complete the process of removing the institutional model of care for the children and the development of inter-sector services for social inclusion, President Rosen Plevneliev said today. Together with Prince Edward and Princess Sophie and Sofia mayor Yordanka Fandukova the Head of State visited the Center for public support “Saint Sofia” of the “For Our Children” foundation and met foster children and families with which the organization works.

President Rosen Plevneliev received their Royal Highnesses Prince Edward, Earl of Wessex and his wife Princess Sophie in the Lozenets residence in Sofia. The members of the British royal family are on an official visit in Bulgaria at the invitation of the Head of State so as to get acquainted with the practice Bulgaria has adopted in preventing the abandonment of children, the development of foster parenting and the social inclusion of children and youths living in specialized institutions, as well as to share the British experience in these sectors. The visit of their royal highnesses is also part of the international charity and socially-oriented activity of the British royal family.

The participants in the Consultative Council for National Security at the President’s Office discussed the current political situation in the country and the measures the political parties represented in the National Assembly should take to meet public expectations. At the beginning of the meeting and with regard to disobeying the rules governing the Consultative Council for National Security, the Head of State was not given the opportunity to make his traditional opening speech.
