HRISTO ALEXIEV
Hristo Alexiev holds a master's degree in economics from the UNWE and a bachelor's degree in political science from Paisii Hilendarski University of Plovdiv. He holds a number of additional qualifications and certificates from Imperial College London, Oxford University Business School and other international educational institutions.
Over the years he has held positions as an economic expert and consultant on the project for the construction of the Intermodal Container Terminal in Plovdiv, member of the Board of Directors of the Public Access Zone at Port of Burgas, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Port of Burgas EAD and Chairman of the Board of Directors and Deputy Director General of the National Railway Infrastructure Company.
He was Minister of Transport, Information Technology and Communications in the caretaker government appointed by President Rumen Radev in January 2017. From September to December 2021, he is again Minister of Transport, Information Technologies and Communications in the caretaker government appointed by the Head of State.
He was appointed to the post of Secretary for Economy by Decree No. 101 of 30 March 2022.
He held the post of Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Policies and Minister of Transport and Communications in the two caretaker governments of President Rumen Radev, which took office on 2 August 2022 and 3 February 2023 respectively.
Hristo Alexiev was appointed Secretary of the President for Economy by Decree No. 82, effective 6 June 2023.
