In Istanbul Vice-president Iliana Yotova and the President of Moldova Igor Dodon discussed the administrative regulations of the Taraclia region and the preservation of the identity and safeguarding the rights of the Bulgarian community there. The language, alphabet and faith have united and will continue to unite our people. A small book written by a monk did something great – it raised the self-awareness of a whole people; so as to preserve it and take it to the present day. This is what Iliana Yotova said in the Bulgarian exarchate in Istanbul. The Vice-president is visiting the city on the occasion of marking 24 May – the day of the Bulgarian education and culture and of the Slavic script. She met more than 200 representatives of the Bulgarian community in Turkey, including students from the Bulgarian Sunday school in Istanbul.

On the occasion of the 25th anniversary since diplomatic relations were established between Bulgaria and Azerbaijan, Vice-president Yotova gave a letter to President Ilham Aliyev from the Bulgarian Head of State Rumen Radev extending the warmest greetings and wishes. Iliana Yotova voiced her conviction that the bilateral cooperation between the two countries will deepen.

“The most used word today is “security” and it has replaced even the social problems and economy. Belligerent extremism knows no borders, ethnic groups, religions,” Vice-president Iliana Yotova said at the World Forum on Intercultural Dialogue in the Azerbaijani capital Baku. “The bridges and trust among us are not given once and for all, but we should struggle for them, defend and develop them,” the Vice-president said. Iliana Yotova highlighted the importance of the forum as an opportunity for building a world in which peoples and cultures, races and religions, nationalities live together in peace.
